Discover Primary Science and Maths Award 2019/2020

St. Michael's Junior School has achieved a SFI Discover Science and Maths Award for the 2019/2020 academic year. We are delighted to have attained and completed the criteria for the Plaque of STEM again this year. This required evidence of children's engagement with STEM in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths and the STEM Showcase

SFI Ireland noted that skills such as collaborative learning, problem solving, investigation and prediction and creativity were displayed and engaged with across all levels throughout the school. The school's active engagement with resources available to us were also highlighted. This included visits from guest speakers into classrooms before COVID restrictions, participation in experiments and SFI initiatives such as the Green Flag and the B.T. Young Scientist Exhibition. Fourth Form groups attended the Young Scientist Exhibition as both participants and also spectators at the annual event. The school's use of technology during remote learning was also highlighted. Well done to all the boys and their teachers who have earned this award for the school.
