Rock your Socks Day
Grey school socks and white sports socks were all left at home today as everyone arrived to school wearing brightly coloured mismatched socks to support people with Down syndrome. In addition, boys brought in donations which amounted to €700 to support the work of Down Syndrome Ireland.
Today’s date, March 21st, is symbolic because people with Down syndrome have 3 copies of their 21st chromosome. Socks were chosen because the karyotype of Ds chromosomes actually looks like mismatched socks.
Well done to all the boys and staff who certainly rocked their socks today!
