It was with sadness that we learned of the death of Fr. Tony Little C.S.Sp. A native of Co. Kilkenny, Fr. Little became part of the Community in St. Michael’s in 1964 and worked tirelessly in every aspect of Junior School life for almost fifty years. Many of the activities which the Junior School pupils still enjoy were instigated by Fr. Little.
In addition to promoting sport in the Junior School, Fr. Little was conscious of the opportunities for enrichment that the Arts give to pupils. With the support of the teaching staff, he ensured the success of the annual musical and the Christmas and Easter concerts. Always acutely aware that the pupils need to realise that others are not always so fortunate, Fr. Little introduced the Gifts at the Crib ceremony and the annual carol singing in aid of St. Vincent de Paul.
Fr. Little had a keen interest in photography and for half a century captured the important moments in the school year. His archive of photographs is a fascinating record of the schools’ development and the pupils and staff who are part of the St. Michael’s story.
Fr. Little’s unparalleled contribution to the school’s sports and arts programmes and to the service of others impacted the lives of countless St. Michael’s pupils, creating experiences and memories for them and for their families.
At this sad time, we extend our sympathy to his twin sister Sr. Clare, his extended family and Spiritan confreres.
May Fr. Little rest in peace. Go raibh leaba aige i measc na naomh.
