The Cumann na mBunscoil competition was the final sporting event of the year, taking place on Thursday 1st June. Although it is usually held in Santry, we were very fortunate that the competition took place down the road in UCD came this year. The athleticism on display on the day was of extremely high calibre but it was a very successful competition for the St. Michael’s team.
CJ, competing in the shot putt for the very first time, won a silver medal in the event. Fiachra came 2nd in the high jump, impressing many onlookers with his talent. Lochlann (u14) and Oisin H (u12) both ran excellent 100m heats and qualified for their respective finals, narrowly missing out on a medal.
The u12 relay team of Oisin H, Oisin C, Harry and Gabriel put in a superb shift in a tough heat to qualify in first place for the final. In the final, the top 8 teams competed for title, having been narrowed down from over 30 schools around Dublin. The St. Michael’s team put in a blistering performance to come home in 2nd place, a fantastic achievement for the lads!
