The boys in both Third Form classes were very excited to welcome six guest speakers into the school as part of our Science Week activities. Professor Crown spoke about his specialist area of oncology and the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Mrs. Sherry spoke about the benefits of GGBS in concrete as a green alternative in the construction industry. Dave spoke to the boys about his career as a nautical engineer and as captain of a super yacht. Mrs. Townsend helped us to learn about our immune systems and the benefits of antibodies while Mr. Perry used his experience of aeronautical engineering to explain how planes fly and the contributiing forces involved. Mrs. Langford gave our final talk of the week on the very topicical subject of Artificial Intelligence. She discussed the applications, benefits and potential risks associated with the increased use of AI. We are extremely grateful to all of the parents throughout the school community who took time off from their busy schedules to come in and speak to the boys. It was a highlight of the week for students and teachers alike. We also wish to thank Mr. Cian Tierney for coordinating Science Week and the visits of all of the presenters who spoke to the various classes throughout the week.
