3.2 have been discussing the function of different building and celebrated St. Michael's Day by observing and sketching the original schoolhouse. This building was built by Michael Meade in 1860. It was modelled on Queen Victoria's residence, Osborne, on the Isle of Wight and even today this is clearly visible. The Meades were builders of note and among their buildings that can be seen today are the Catholic churches of Donnybrook, Bray, Monkstown and Harrington Street, the Gaiety Theatre, the Town Hall in Dun Laoghaire and Shrewsbury House (the former Belgian Embassy).
